El Comité Ejecutivo de la FIFA, en su reunión
del 31 de mayo pasado tomó una histórica decisión:
por primera vez la Copa Mundial de Fútbol se disputará
en dos países simultáneamente. En efecto, Japón
y Corea del Sur, los dos postulantes a la sede del torneo, fueron
elegidos y organizarán conjuntamente el primer Mundial
del Siglo 21. Será, asimismo, la Copa inaugural para el
continente asiático.
Tratándose de dos potencias económicas,
dos naciones que ya fueron organizadoras de los Juegos Olímpicos
y en las que el fútbol tiene enorme popularidad, no cabe
duda que hospedarán un Mundial de ensueño. Congratulaciones
para ambos. |
FlFA Executive Committee made a historical decision
at the meeting held on May 31st., last: the Football World Cup
shall be staged in two countries simultaneously for the first
time. Japan and South Korea, both candidates to host the first
World Cup of the 21st. Century have been chosen to organize said
competition jointly. Likewise it shall be the first Cup sponsored
by the Asiatic continent.
As both are two leading economic powers, nations
that have already organized the Olympic Games and in which football
enjoys a tremendous popularity, there can be no doubt that they
shall host a dream World Cup. Congratulations to both.
