En su reunión del 31 de mayo último, el Comité
Ejecutivo de la FIFA autorizó a la Federación Boliviana
de Fútbol a disputar sus partidos de la Eliminatoria en
La Paz, ciudad ubicada a 3.650 metros de altura sobre el nivel
del mar. El posible veto a su capital, había causado alarma
en los estamentos deportivos y gubernamentales bolivianos. Como
contrapartida, la ansiada autorización fue motivo de júbilo
en todo el país apenas conocida la noticia. Para que se
pueda jugar en La Paz, Bolivia deberá asumir un seguro
para todas las delegaciones que allí jueguen, y se permite
a los equipos que puedan contar con sus jugadores diez días
antes del partido para una mejor aclimatación. Los clubes
dueños de sus pases deberán cederlos obligatoriamente
con esa antelación.
At its meeting of May 31, last, FIFA Executive Committee authorized
the Bolivian Football Federation to dispute its Preliminary Games
in La Paz, a city located 3,650 meters above sealevel. The possible
veto of the capital-city, raised alarm in Bolivian governmental
and sports institutions. In compensation, the cherished authorization
was welcomed with enthusiasm all over the country. So that the
games may take place in La Paz, Bolivia will have to insure the
delegations playing there and teams that have all their players
ready will be allowed to travel to Bolivia ten days before the
matches, for a better adjustment to its climate. Clubs owning
their passes, shall be obliged to assign them with the same advance
term.
